This is my second history presentation
first, I'm going to tell you about pyramid and mummies
Then, I'm going to tell you about the ancient egypt.
and for last, I'm telling you about the modern egypt
But before all of that, I think you should know the least fact about Egypt. Egypt is located in northeast of Africa and capital city is Cairo. They use arabian and they call themselves 'msr'. And it is written like this (uuu하고 c 거꾸로) There are 788million900thousand people living in Egypt.
Now I'm going to tell you about the pyramid !! The pyramid is the rocky pyramid shaped structure made out of rock. masterpiece. It contains around 1,300,000 blocks in weight from 2.5 tons to 15 tons. The height of the pyramid is 137m. Pyramid is a tomb for the kings of Egypt. Pyramid of giza most popular and well known pyramid in Egypt. Fun fact about pyramid is that between rocks, there is no space for even sharpest pocket knife to go though. The Pyramid of giza is supposed to be absolutely sealed, so no grave robber can steal the treasure inside it. So people who built and decorated inside the tomb actually could not come out again. But they didn't want to die in that cold dark place with mummy beside them, so they built the secret tunnel to get out. There are a lot of traps and way to get to the pharaoh's tomb is really hard. Now, We know the map inside it so we can know what it inside the pharaoh's tomb. There was a boat inside the pharaoh's tomb and it was used for the pharoaoh's spirit to go to ... well.... hell. Think about the pharaoh's power, they ccan make the citizens to make a pyramid with a large boat and mummifie him.... that must be a huge power. There is a lot of myth about how the pyramid was made. A lot of people said that it was made with the logs underneath it so we can roll, but then you have to build a hill which is bigger than pyramid. Also how the people got the rock is also a mystery. Now if you are going to talk about the pyramid, you shouldn't miss one more important thing which is mummy.
The mummy is the corpse of human body and it is usually king or queen or some other noble family because it actually coasts a lot to be mummified. There are a lot of steps to make mummy. First, you have to take out all the organs but heart because the reason why we make mummy is to make the owner ghost of the mummy comes back to fine his ar her body, but they need heart become alive again. And heart was used in one more thing, they had to be judged by the god by weighing their heart with feather!! if you lied a lot, your heart will be lighter than feather and if you didn't do bad things, your heart will be heavier. They putted different organs in different bowl liver goes to one with the human head on, stomach to the one which has a head of a dog, lung to monkey, and intestines to hawk. Interesting thing is that they only made a hole for just one hand to go in, then haw did they know which organ was where? And they also got the brain out through the nose and that means that they even knew that nose was connected to brain. however, then they put some sand inside the mummy and they put some salt from nile river. Then, almost up to 40% of water evaporates. Then you wind the bandage around it with the important stuffs and write the mummies name.
I'm finished talking about pyramid and mummies and i'm going to talk about how the ancient people of Egypt has lived.
At the ancient Egypt, they lived around the nile river. The reason why is because they grew grains to make bread, but it is hard to grow any kind of grains in the middle of the desert. But, the once a year, the nile river overflows and bring the fertile soil to the farmland. Egyptians called this the gift of the nile. Nile river was so important for the egyptians. So I'll tell you more fact about the nile river. Nile river is the longest river in the world! And it is the only river that flows to north. Back to egyptians, there were rank-just like all the other countries. novels and ordinary people were a lot different from each other. There are the ordinary people were usually farmers, craftsman or the soldier and they ate bread and beer, but novels were usually priest or somebody who is relative to pharaoh. They drank wine with lamb, pigeon and lots of other meat.
Now moving on to the politics, you guys all know that pharaoh is the best in the egypt's society. They had huge amount of power, they had power to call his citizens, he had power to make them work for him and he could make them build your pyramid. Pharaoh also controled all the religious things and he had controled his citizens. But egypt had open society for everybody, a lot of jews came down to live there and some of them, became a novel.
The family of the ancient Egyptians were just like the family today. They had Dad, Mom, kids, and maybe grand parents at their house. Often times, husband called themselves 'brother', and wives called themselves 'sister' so archeologist got confused a lot. Marriage meant to live in the same house and divorcing is just telling people that they were divorcing. But when they divorce, wife got a lot of insurance. They even had rights to get helped by their past husband. The status of in the society was quite impressive, too. There were equality, rights, and lots of other laws to protect women.
There are few more stuffs to tell you about. But I think you guy are getting bored now so I'll just tell you one more important thing which is god of Egypt. There were a lot of gods in egypt and all of them were are connected and they were all god of all different parts such as god of death, god of sun, god of happiness, god of air and there were even god of mummification!! Interesting part is that they had either head of animal or human.
Now I'm going to move on the modern Egypt. Now days Egypt is famous for tour, place to make film, and the mysteries. Egyptians pound as there money but thankfully this pound is different from the pound from U.K.. There are factories lined up along the coast of the nile river, and they export a lot of rice, bean, wheat, oil, and sugar cane. There are a lot of oil coming out of Sinai and oil is giving huge impact to the egypt's economy.
I think that Egypt is the best place for archeologist and the film maker. And next time, when you are going to the foreign country, I recommend you to go to Egypt.
